The Dirt Farmer Foundation’s CAUSE it’s JUNE: Special Olympics

The Dirt Farmer Foundation is our way of focusing the social media power of the Dirt Farmer’s community to help worthwhile charities.

Our CAUSE it’s JUNE or Cause of the Month is:

***SPECIAL OLYMPICS***

Special Olympics is a global movement of people creating a new world of inclusion and community, where every single person is accepted and welcomed, regardless of ability or disability. Special Olympics helps make the world a better, healthier and more joyful place -- one athlete, one volunteer, one family member at a time. Learn more HERE.

Children and adults with intellectual disabilities inspire us every day at Special Olympics events around the world.

But what are intellectual disabilities? Learn more HERE.

From a backyard summer camp for people with intellectual disabilities to a global movement, Special Olympics has been changing lives and attitudes since 1968

Learn more about Special Olympics History HERE.

The Foundation has two major objectives:

To seek the prevention of intellectual disability by identifying its causes, and to improve the means by which society deals with citizens who have intellectual disabilities.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Learn more HERE.

Special Olympics work is to deliver, high- quality training and competition in an inclusive culture through Unified Sports which allows for people with and without intellectual disabilities to play on the same field. Special Olympics offers 30-plus Olympic-style individual and team sports that provide meaningful training and competition opportunities for athletes ranging in age from 2 to 99! Learn more about Special Olympics work HERE.

Through the power of sports, people with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success.

Special Olympics athletes inspire people in their communities and elsewhere to open their hearts to a wider world of human talents and potential.

Special Olympics offers many ways to take part.

There are short-term and long-term volunteer opportunities, the option of playing Unified Sports and to become a Special Olympics athlete

Learn HERE about all the Special Olympics Programs.

Every day Special Olympics empowers athletes to shatter stereotypes and exceed their personal bests on the playing field and in life. But for every Special Olympics champion, there is another who is waiting for a chance to win. Please donate and help get one more athlete onto the playing field. Learn more HERE.

Special Olympics offers many ways to take part.
