The Dirt Farmer Foundation’s CAUSE it’s APRIL: Autism Speaks

The Dirt Farmer Foundation is our way of focusing the social media power of the Dirt Farmer’s community to help worthwhile charities.

Our CAUSE it’s APRIL or Cause of the Month is:

***AUTISM SPEAKS***

Autism Speaks is a national organization dedicated to promote solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.

Autism Speaks helps through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. LEARN MORE HERE.

Autism Speaks centers it's work in the following initiatives: Increasing Global Understanding and Acceptance. Advancing Breakthroughs in Autism Research. Expanding Early Childhood Screening and Intervention. Improving the Transition to Adulthood. Ensuring Access to Reliable Information across the Life Span. LEARN MORE HERE.

On April 2 every year, we join the global autism community by celebrating
WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY.

This day declared by The United Nations, highlights the need to help improve the quality of life of children and adults, who are affected by autism, so they can lead full and meaningful lives. On this day we Light it Up Blue to raise Autism Awareness. Learn more HERE. #LIUB #AutismAwarenessDay #Autism

“Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid” -Albert Einstein.

Every day, our brains interpret and understand the things we see, smell, hear, taste, touch, and experience. But when someone's brain has trouble interpreting these things, it can make it hard to talk, listen, understand, play, and learn.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability  that can cause significant social, communication and behavioral challenges. There is often nothing about how people with ASD look that sets them apart from other people, but people with ASD may communicate, interact, behave, and learn in ways that are different from most other people.

The learning, thinking, and problem-solving abilities of people with ASD can range from gifted to severely challenged. Some people with ASD need a lot of help in their daily lives; others need less. Learn more about ADS facts, signs, symptoms, causes,  treatment HERE

Autism spectrum disorder ASD occurs in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups, but is almost five times more common among boys than among girls. CDC estimates that about 1 in 68 children has been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Learn more about ASD data and statistics HERE.
