The Dirt Farmer Foundation’s CAUSE it’s NOVEMBER: Honor Flight

The Dirt Farmer Foundation is our way of focusing the social media power of the Dirt Farmer’s community to help worthwhile charities.
Our CAUSE it’s NOVEMBER or Cause of the Month is:

“Honor our Heroes, Honor our Veterans”

The Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created to honor America's Veterans for all of their sacrifices. They transport our heroes to Washington, DC free of charge to visit their memorials. Top priority is given to the senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill.

Of all of the wars in recent memory, it was World War II that truly threatened our very existence as a nation—and as a culturally diverse, free society. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, an estimated 640 WWII veterans die each day. Our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out.

HOW A DREAM BECAME A REALITY. The Honor Flight Network program was conceived by Earl Morse, a physician assistant and Retired Air Force Captain. Earl wanted to honor the veterans he had taken care of for the past 27 years.

When Earl learned that most of his World War II patients would not be able to visit their memorials in Washington D.C., due to financial or physical reasons he decided it was time to do something about it and help. The inaugural Honor Flight Tour took place in May of 2005

THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW! In another 5-7 years almost all of our World War II veterans will be gone. This tour is their “last hurrah”the last time they will be recognized as the conquering victors that collectively and literally saved the world. To this day most of Europe is free, most of the Pacific is free and America is free. This freedom came at a very high cost. We can never repay them for what they’ve done. An “Honor Flight Tour” is simply a small token of our appreciation for everything they’ve done.

Throughout their Honor Flight Network tour, the Veterans are thanked, recognized and admired for their service.

They come home personally knowing how much their country loves them and respects them. Veterans will never forget this gratitude and adoration.

Please help Honor Flight rewrite this final chapter of their lives.

Our American Veterans deserve nothing less.

Equal priority is given to any terminally ill veteran who has never visited their Memorials.

If America thought it was important to build a memorial to their service and sacrifice, Honor Flight Network believes it’s important for them to visit their memorial before it’s too late.

LONE EAGLE PROGRAM. A Lone Eagle is a Veteran whose application has been in Honors Flight's national office for one year or more, yet they do not live close to one of their existing hub cities. Lean more HERE.

TLC PROGRAM. Another category of veterans are ALL those who served in uniform that were recently diagnosed with a terminal illness. It is Honor Flight's mission to transport these veterans if they have never been able to visit the various national memorials constructed to honor the service and sacrifice of their brothers and sisters in arms.

In the TLC Program all veterans, regardless of the conflict they participated who wish to visit our nation’s existing memorials, will be invited to do so. This special category of veterans we refer to as “TLC’s,” meaning “Their Last Chance”. Learn more HERE.
