The Dirt Farmer Foundation is our way of focusing the social media power of the Dirt Farmer’s community to help worthwhile charities.
Our CAUSE it’s SEPTEMBER or Cause of the Month is:
"Putting a Smile on the Face of Every Child in a Wheelchair"
Is a nonprofit organization that give kids in wheelchairs an unforgettable experience by creating custom costumes for them at no expense to their families.
Ryan & Lana Weimer, the founders of Magic Wheelchair, have five children, three of which, have been born with a form of Muscular Dystrophy called Spinal muscular Atrophy and will require the use of wheelchairs for the entirety of their lives. Each Halloween Ryan has made the biggest baddest costumes he could for his kids. These wheelchair costumes have been tremendously successful. Magic Wheelchair seeks to do this for every child in a wheelchair. The children pick the costumes and we are proud to showcase the uniqueness and individuality of each child. Learn more HERE
HOW DOES Magic Wheelchair WORK? Kids, with their parents’ permission, submit a 1-3 minute video telling us what costume they want for Halloween, a parade, a celebration, or another event and why they should be selected for each year's Magic Wheelchair Build. Magic Wheelchair will review the submissions and select 5 children, who will then work with designers and builders to create the ultimate wheelchair costume in time for Halloween or another event! HOW TO APPLY? Magic Wheelchair makes costumes for children in wheelchairs. Children choose what they want to be for Halloween, a parade, a celebration, or another big day and then the artists and volunteers at Magic Wheel make a custom fit costume for the child's specific wheelchair. Below is information about applying to have a costume made for you or someone you know. Although the costumes are only for children, you must be the parent or legal guardian in order to be eligible to be selected. Submit Applications HERE
