The Dirt Farmer Foundation’s CAUSE it’s DECEMBER: The Salvation Army USA

The Dirt Farmer Foundation is our way of focusing the social media power of the Dirt Farmer’s community to help worthwhile charities.
Our CAUSE it’s NOVEMBER or Cause of the Month is

The Salvation Army is committed to feed, to clothe, to comfort, to care, to rebuild broken homes and broken lives. The Salvation Army operates 7,546 centers in communities across the United States. These include food distribution, disaster relief, rehabilitation centers, anti-human trafficking efforts, and a wealth of children's programs.

The Salvation Army's work is funded through kettle donations, corporate contributions, and the sale of goods donated to the Salvation Army Family Stores. Eighty-two cents of every dollar they spend supports their various missions across the country. #DoingtheMostGood

Ways The Salvation Army Helps - The Salvation Army is serving more people in the United States than ever before. We are already seeing large increases in the number of Americans seeking the basic necessities of life - food, shelter, and warmth. Approximately 30 million people received help from The Salvation Army in 4 different Ways:

1. Support for Adults including Adult Rehabilitation, Veterans Affairs Service, Prison Ministries, Elderly Services, Combating Human Trafficking and Missing Persons.

2. Children and Families including Hunger Relief (soup kitchens, sit-down meal programs, food pantries, mobile meals and community gardens), Housing and Homeless Services, Christmas Assistance, Youth Camps & Recreation and Kroc Centers.

3. International including
The World Service Office (Disaster, Response & Recovery, Community Health and Aids) and Sponsorship which supports children's homes, schools and centers around the world.

Disaster Relief - provides relief services to communities impacted by both natural and man-made disasters.

The Red Kettle Campaign - From its humble beginnings as a San Francisco donation collection by Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee in 1891, the Red Kettle Campaign has grown into one of the most recognizable and important charitable campaigns in the United States.

The Red Kettle Campaign provides toys for kids, coats for the homeless, food for the hungry and countless social service programs year-round. You become a vital part of our Christmas efforts when you help those in need by hosting an Online Red Kettle and filling it with donations from family, friends and colleagues.

Ways You Can Help - There are several ways you can help and support The Salvation Army's mission: You can donate goods (clothing, furniture and household items) which are sold though The National Family Stores and proceedings go to The Salvation Army charity programs; you can volunteer; you can donate in Thrift Stores; you can donate airline miles, you can donate by joining sponsors campaigns (UPS); or just give simply online.
