Today’s public schools often lack resources for students to thrive. As a result, teachers are spending $1 billion from their own pockets each year on supplies. makes it easy for any individual to address this inequity, one classroom at a time.

“Support a classroom. Build a future.” is an online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America post classroom project requests on site, that range from pencils for a poetry writing unit, to violins for a school recital, to microscope slides for a biology class.

You can browse project requests and give any amount to the one that inspires you. You can choose a Project to fund according to location, subject, resources, age, teacher & school type. Subjects include Math & Science, Music & The Arts, Literacy & Language, History & Civics, Special Needs, Applied Learning and Health & Sports. Under Resources you will find Books, Technology, Supplies and Trips & Visitors. empowers public school teachers from across the country to request much-needed materials and experiences for their students.

Right now there are thousands of classroom requests that you can help bring to life with a gift of any amount. was started by a history teacher. In 2000, Charles Best, a teacher at a Bronx public high school, wanted his students to read Little House on the Prairie.

As he was making photocopies of the one book he could procure, Charles thought about all the money he and his colleagues were spending on books, art supplies, and other materials.

So Charles figured there were people out there who'd want to help — if they could see where their money was going. Charles sketched out a website where teachers could post classroom project requests, and donors could choose the ones they wanted to support. His colleagues posted the first 11 requests.
