FarmVille Straits Of Ardour Farm Hand of Destiny Complete Guide

Starts July 17th -Farmville's all new upcoming Straits of Ardour farm will  have its own unique main feature - THE HAND OF DESTINY . Like the Pot of Gold feature on the Isle of Dreams farm, this will be a time limited experience. The feature will run from the Farm's release on July 17th, 2017 and it will be playable until August 26th, 2017. The prizes will be available until August 28th, but it is not yet clear if that will be for redeeming or farm cash , so to be safe, redeem before the 26th. We will be playing a rather cool jewel  clicking mini game, which calls to mind the old classic Minesweeper.... For our feature guide, we will have the enigmatic Mystique. In a rather curious choice, the Hand of Destiny will be included in the all-farm quest during Early Access week. We do not yet know if the feature will be locked to the Straits of Ardour farm, though it seems likely. It appears that this feature will be very difficult to finish, so please make sure to read the entire post so that you will be able to make informed choices about which rewards you wish to pursue.   Read below for the details that your Dirt Farmer team has found and please do share....

Recently, you may have seen a pop-up advertising this new feature. You were invited to select a tile and rewarded with a consumable. Please note that none of the rewards that can be redeemed in the actual feature are consumables.

A look at the loading screen

A look at the pop-up inviting us to play the new feature.

We will spend 4 RUNES to play the Hand of Destiny,

and be rewarded with 20 NIGHT PEARLS  if we win.
(The 4 runes are gone once you activate a game whether you win or lose)

The gameboard looks like this.

There are three ways to play.

You can click on the "Find  Game" icon within the feature to play with a random person who is also seeking a team mate.

If you choose this option the following screen will appear with a countdown timer of up to 3 minutes. How long it actually takes will vary, based on how many other FarmVille players are currently seeking a game.

You can opt to play with one of your own Farmville neighbors or friends  by inviting them. This can be done by clicking on the "invite a friend" button.

Doing this will bring up a typical gifting/ request type screen.

Your friend will see the following roll-up at the bottom of his or her game, with the option to accept or decline your request.

The third option is to simply play by yourself   by clicking the play solo button - be warned if you choose this option it will cost you the same 4 runes but you will only have your normal 4 turns, the turns your partner would otherwise have are lost.

One thing to note - if anything goes wrong and you or your partner lose connection to one another, during either type of paired game, you will not get your runes back or the option to re-select a partner. Instead, the game will load a solo game by default and you will have 4 clicks to find the prize,

Once you have started a game, either partnered or solo, the game board will appear.

Your profile picture will appear on the left, with a counter beneath it, and your teammate's profile pic, if you have one will appear on the right, also with a counter. Remember if you play solo, it will still cost 4 runes and you will still only have 4 turns.

When you do play with a partner, the two of you will alternate turns. You will not be able to click on a tile when the yellow light is under their picture.
The person who's turn it is will have a yellow glow on their turn counter

Any turns that have been completed will be checked off.

When it is your turn, simply click on a tile. If others have already been clicked, use their color as a clue to the location of the prize.
\

IMPORTANT : PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE GAME WHEN PLAYING HAND OF DESTINY! YOU WILL HAVE ONLY 15 SECONDS TO COMPLETE EACH TURN. IF YOU DO NOT CLICK ON A TILE WITHIN 15 SECONDS, THEN YOU WILL FORFEIT THAT TURN. YOU CAN VIEW HOW MUCH TIME YOU HAVE REMAINING IN YOUR TURN, OR HOW MUCH TIME YOUR PARTNER HAS REMAINING, DIRECTLY ABOVE THE GAME BOARD.

During your partner's turns, you can send messages to cheer them on,

by clicking the SEND button beneath one of the hand images in the lower left of the mini game board.
Your message will appear to your partner as a speech bubble above your profile picture as shown below.

Since the game only shows the hands themselves, not the messages, we shall list the messages below for you, so you know what you are sending if you opt to click on one. The same message will always match up with the same hand.

To play a turn, simply click on a square within the game board. It will light up in a jewel tone in blue, green or red.

If you click on a  tile and it lights up BLUE, that indicates that you are FAR (more than two squares away) from the prize.

If you click on a  tile and it lights up GREEN, that indicates that you are CLOSE ( two squares away, in some direction ) from the prize.

If you click on a  tile and it lights up RED, that indicates that you are VERY CLOSE (the prize is in a tile adjacent to that tile in some direction) to the prize.

Another look at the meaning of each color tile light. Remember RED is an adjacent tile, Green will have one tile between it and the prize, and blue is two or more squares away.

You and your teammate will work off the clues from tiles already clicked on the board to attempt to locate the prize.

If you are successful in finding the prize, the mini game screen will say YAAY at the top, and the NIGHT PEARLS will appear.
Follow the clues carefully, as the prize may be located anywhere on the board.

You will then get the following pop-up

and each of you will be awarded 20 Night Pearls.
If you are not successful in finding the prize within your turn limit, you will not receive any Night Pearls and you will still be out the runes for the game. The top of the screen will say "Oh" and the location of the prize will be revealed.

Now that we know how to play, and that it takes 4 runes to play a game, how do we acquire runes?

You will receive 4 free runes (one game) every 24 hours by pressing the COLLECT button on the main feature screen.

You can post to the newsfeed to ASK for 4 runes every 6 hours, by clicking the ASK button on the main game screen.

You will also receive one rune for every successful click on a friend's ask for rune's post.

IMPORTANT NOTE. THE DAILY CAP FOR CLAIMING RUNES FROM THE FEED CURRENTLY APPEARS TO BE 8 RUNES PER DAY. iN PRIOR FEATURES WITH SUCH CAPS, PLAYERS REPORTED BEING STOPPED WITH LOWER NUMBERS THAN THE CODED CAP, SO IT IS DIFFICULT TO COUNT ON THESE, ALSO IF SOMEONE CLICKS ON YOUR POST TO HELP YOU, AND THEY HAVE HIT THEIR DAILY CAP, IN ALL PRIOR FEATURES WITH CLAIM CAPS, YOU WOULD NOT RECEIVE ONE FOR THE CLICK EITHER. MAXIMUM RUNES FOR FREE PER DAY IS 28 (4 FROM COLLECT BUTTON, 16 FROM YOUR OWN POSTS IF YOU POST EXACTLY EVERY 6 HOURS AND, GET ALL 4 CLICKS AND ALL 4 CLICKS WORK, AND 8 FROM HELPING FRIENDS)
Given that historically, many players are stopped before a coded claim cap, the newsfeed issues which cause posts to get missed (you can get around that by joining the Dirt Farmer's Quest and More Help group and posting there), and the fact that in all prior features with claim limits, a friend clicking who had hit their limit did not give the poster the item, and in fact often counted toward the helper limit on the post without providing the needed item, and the fact that posts are every 6 hours and folks sleep, we expect that it will be difficult if not impossible to obtain all 28 daily. There is no crafting option or alrernate way to obtain runes.

You will be awarded 40 extra runes if you purchase Early Access to Straits of Ardour.

Additionally there are THREE LAND EXPANSIONS. Earls Patch, Frenchman's Farm and Southerby's Lot that will award 40 runes each when you open them,
Southerby's Lot is a farm cash only expansion tile priced at 99 Farm Cash.

Earl's Patch and Frenchman's Farm are both unlockable land expansions - sounds great right?

Well here's the catch. Earl's Patch the 6th land expansion is coded to unlock on September 4th, 2017. Frenchman's Farm the 9th land expansion is coded to unlock on September 25th, 2017. The Hand of Destiny feature ends, in terms of being able to play the game, on August 26th, 2017 . So unless you purchase the Earl's Patch expansion before the end of the feature for 48 farm cash and/or the Frenchman's Farm expansion before the end of the feature for 99 farm cash, the runes will be useless, as the feature will be over prior to the unlock dates. So obtaining the runes that are paired with land expansions will involve purchasing land that will later be FREE for everyone who completes tasks,  as opposed to extra land that you wouldn't otherwise have, for farm cash in two out of three cases. Be aware of this and make informed choices.

Of course, as always you can purchase Runes directly for Farm Cash in the amounts of 50 for 45 Farm Cash and 100 for 80 Farm Cash

So - we know how to play, that we use RUNES to activate a game and win NIGHT PEARLS when we find the prize. Just what are Night Pearls good for anyway? Glad you asked. On the right side of the main feature screen you will see the below button marked "REDEEM REWARDS"

Clicking on it will bring up the following screen , which will show your current Night Pearl balance in the upper left, what rewards are available and which you have enough to redeem. Clicking on redeem will exchange the listed number of Night Pearls for that reward.

Now for a look at the rewards themselves and their costs in Night Pearls.

599 Night Pearls 699 Night Pearls

You will need a total of  4780 Night Pearls if you wish to redeem all rewards.
Remember it costs 4 runes to play one game, and you will receive 20  Night Pearls IF you win.

As discussed above, the maximum number of free runes per day is 28 - or 7 games per day, but that number will be very difficult to hit, for the reasons noted above.

Let's break that down -

4,780 divided by 20 = 239 - so essentially you will need to WIN two hundred and thirty nine games over the duration of the feature to redeem all rewards without paying farm cash.
239 divided by 41 (days of duration of the feature) = 524. You will need to WIN 5-6 games per day, every day throughout the feature to get 4,780 Night Pearls. Given the difficulty of obtaining the maximum number of free runes, and the possibility of losing when you play, we recommend choosing favorite prizes and playing for those first, as obtaining all will be almost impossible unless you purchase runes for farm cash - and lots of them.

TIP: If you're looking for a way to get all the prizes easier, the cow and 3 horses can be grown in the nursery if you obtain the babies from friends. You can also grow the 2 deer with fawn feed. If you take these steps to obtain those items, you will only need 2,086 Night Pearls, which is over 50% less.

Finally, a look at the offspring from the feature rewards. (all three trees have Giant level twos)
