Special thanks to Dirt Farmers Jason, Eric, Katy, Michele, Stassi, Renee and Karen for help in testing the feature and completing this guide. We have all the details for you on creating, customizing and the bugs and glitches in the feature. Please make sure to read the full post and don't skim or skip around as there are many details crucial to understanding this feature. This is a very complicated feature, and it took hours of several Dirt Farmer's time to test it and make sure we were bringing you the most complete information possible. We apologize for the delay in publishing but accuracy is our goal. Check out the details below and please do share....

If you participated in the Dream Fish preview feature we let you know about in this post, then you have been collecting Fish Food up until Early Access to Opal's Kingdom, was released.Whether or not you had enough, clicking on the Dream Fish icon on the right side of your screen no longer offered you the opportunity to post for fish food, instead it is now an invitation to travel for Early Access.

Now for a look at how the feature works.

When you first click on the Fish Studio from Opal's Kingdom, you will be greeted by Opal the mermaid who will give you a brief walk through on the feature.

The first order of business is to select a body, fins, a tail, colors  and pattern.

Let's walk through what is available in each of those categories.

There are 4 body styles to choose from, Regular Joe, Braniac, Shorty and Reacher. The BRANIAC body type is available only to those who purchase Early Access to Opal's Kingdom. Each Dream Fish costs 12 Farm Cash to purchase and place.

Reacher Shorty

Next Opal lets you know that there are other components of the Dream Fish feature only available to Early Access players. There are two different benefits given to Early Access players within the feature. Early Access Exclusive items and Early Unlocks.

Early Access exclusives are exactly what they sound like. These items are not currently coded to be available at any point in the future  for anyone who does not purchase Early Access. For Example the Braniac fish body style.

Early Access Exclusives will have the "EA Only" tag within the feature as pictured below.

Early Unlock is a little bit different. We believe that these items will be available to General Access players in the future. They will not be immediately available with General (Free) Access. but will have specific release dates. In addition to the wait time, it  also appears that General Access Players will have an additional one time Farm Cash charge that will need to be paid to unlock the items that are free to Early Access Players with Early Unlock.

If you opt for General (Free) Access instead of Early Access, you will be able to preview the Farm Cash add-ons within the feature and paying Farm Cash to unlock them one time will allow you to use them on all future fish that you create.

A look at the 12 varying patterns that you can choose from to design your dream fish. All of these patterns are FREE and immediately available to Early Access Players. Availability  for General (Free) Access players varies as noted below in the table. Please note, we are not yet sure if the Farm Cash cost is in addition to waiting for the release date or instead of it. We shall update this post when we are certain. We also cannot be sure that all of the Early Unlock items will in fact become available to General Access Players until they are released, although the code currently appears that they will. Also be aware that even if the patterns are free to you, there is still a 12 Farm Cash cost to purchase and place the fish itself. While the above images do indicate a Farm Cash cost to unlock some patterns for General Access players, exact pricing is not available at this time. It is also possible that the cost will be attached to unlocking the items prior to the release date.

You can also choose colors for your Dream Fish, There are two pages of colors, one more jewel tones and one pastel. You can access the different pages by clicking on the yellowish orange arrow on one side or the other, depending on what page you are on.

To select a color, simply click on it, you will then see a paint brush with your chosen color. Click the body, fins, or tail to color that aspect.

You can color the body, fins and tails different colors if you so choose,

Many colors appear darker on the fish than they do on the palette so you will want to experiment if you opt to play this feature.

The RANDOM button on the feature will design a fish for you. If you like it in general but just want to change it some, you still have all customization options after clicking random.

The RESET button will bring your fish back to the gray base if you wish to start over.

The place for free or buy and place buttons yield a gear with the word "creating" and then a completed Dream Fish

When you complete a Dream Fish you will be invited to share a post to the feed.

When your friends click on your post, they will be able to collect an animal feed to raise their mystery babies.

So far we have discussed how to make the fish and the fact that they generally cost 12 Farm Cash apiece.
There are a few possible ways to get a free one, let's look those over now.

First, as mentioned above, if you were able to collect 50 Fish Food prior to Early Access going live, you will have a free one awaiting you when you first open the feature. This particular free fish has nothing to do with whether you purchased  Early Access or waited for General Access. If you collected all 50 Fish Food before the option to post for Fish Food expired you will get one. If you did not, you will not.

As you can see from the above image, you can choose from any of the body styles that are available to you to customize your free fish.

IMPORTANT WARNING! MAKE SURE THAT THE BOTTOM BUTTON SAYS 0 PLACE FOR FREE BEFORE PLACING YOUR FREE FISH. IF IT SAYS 12FC BUY AND PLACE YOU WILL BE CHARGED THE 12 FC! IF YOU HAVE NOT YET CUSTOMIZED YOUR FREE ONE, AND THE FEATURE SAYS YOU HAVE 50 FISH FOOD, YOU WILL NEED TO REFRESH YOUR FARM UNTIL THE BOTTOM BUTTON SAYS 0 PLACE FOR FREE!

Secondly some players have managed to find a method to share blank fish to the feed. If you are lucky enough to collect one or some of these, extensive testing on Dirt Farmer Jason's part has deduced that only the REGULAR JOE fish can be customized from the feed. If you opt to do this, be aware that the Shorty, Reacher and Braniac will not work and even the Regular Joe fish will only work for a certain random number of customizations. Various Dirt Farmer team members were able to complete 5 (2 team members), 8 and 14 respectively before the feed Regular Joes stopped working. For a blank Regular Joe to work, you would need to place it on your Opal's Kingdom farm, and click on it, then click the CUSTOMIZE option on the menu.

You will know when no more will work because customize will vanish and instead it will say "create a new dream fish"

When you click on "create a new dream fish" it will either give you the 12 Farm Cash price to buy and place

Or it will simply cause whoa farmer.when you click on place

If you get whoa farmer, when you are creating a dream fish from a Regular Joe from the feed, when you refresh, the plain fish will vanish from your farm and return to your Gift Box.

Remember that all  Shorty, Reacher and Braniac Fish you collect from the feed will simply remain gray blobs. Only Regular Joe's can be customized until the game stops you. This number is not a daily limit, as none of the testers on the DF team were able to make more after being stopped on the following day, or the day after. It is apparently a permanent cut off.

Once the game stops you, there is no option on the farm OR in the gift box to sell the gray blob fish. (or the uncustomizable Shorty, Braniac, or Reacher. The only way to get rid of them is to build an Aquarium, place them within and sell the entire aquarium. Thanks to Dirt Farmer Stassi for discovering this.

To further confuse matters there are two additional fish that show up  in the My Mastery tab, the Regular Joe Fish and the Shorty Fish. These are already colored and are not available in the market, but again some players have found a method of sharing them on the feed. This version of the Regular Joe Fish CANNOT be customized, even if you have never done one before. Only the gray blob Regular Joe's can.

This type will not show any option at all to change them.

The third and final way to make a Dream Fish for free is not really free, someone still pays - but you can receive a GIFT BOWL from a friend.

Lets have a look at how to send, receive and use the Gift Bowls.

To send a gift bowl to a friend, simply click on the send button on the right side of the feature.

That will bring up the following Marketplace  Gifting pop-up.

Simply choose who you want to send  the gift bowl to - remember each one you send will cost you 12 Farm Cash - and click on buy and send.

You will then get the following popup indicating that your gifts have been sent.

Your recipient will get the following pop-up with either your name or "your secret" depending on Facebook's mood that day.

The Dream Fish Gift  Bowl will be in their gift box.

To use a Dream Fish Gift Bowl that you have received, first you must place it on your farm, then click on customize.
This will open the feature for you to design the fish as you see fit. Again make sure that the bottom says 0 place for free, if it says 12 Buy and Place, the game will charge you again. If the wrong price is visible, you will need to refresh until it is correct.
The gift bowls, despite costing the same 12 Farm Cash to send as the fish are to buy, have the same issue as the Regular Joe fish from the feed. The game will stop you after a cerain random number., the same random number as it will stop you from  customizing Regular Joes from the feed.  Again Team members were stopped at 5,8, and 14
You will know when no more will work because customize will vanish and instead it will say "create a new dream fish"

When you click on "create a new dream fish" it will either give you the 12 Farm Cash price to buy and place

Or it will simply cause whoa farmer.when you click on place

Bugs & Glitches.

The Dream Fish are coded to go into the Aquarium. Some players are able to place their Dream Fish in an Aquarium without issue. Others refresh to find their customized and costly Dream Fish has reverted to a gray blob that cannot be customized again. Removing it from the aquarium or refreshing do not help. This poor guy used to be purple.

As mentioned above, there is also a bug with purchased Dream Fish Gift Bowls having a change in menu from "customize" to "create a new dream fish" at which point they will charge you again, or cause whoa farmer.

This may not be a bug, it was most likely intentional but it is definitely odd that Dream FISH can only go on LAND not in the WATER.

Finally a look at some of the fish the Dirt Farmer team created in the process of testing this feature. Hopefully if you are interested in it, we can give you some ideas....
