Farm Crashing? Too Slow? Read This

Is your FarmVille farm slow and crashing constantly? Have you been experiencing the annoying redirects while playing? The game and supporting items on the page may be taking too much memory. Read below for a way to take back control of how much is used at a time and please do share...

What we recommend is to set your browser to only allow flash to run when you approve it - then you have the option to only allow flash to load when you are playing Farmville or want to check out an image here on farmvilledirt.com.

Now we will go through how to go about that - we will address how to make plug ins ask for your approval on Chrome and Chrome based browsers, Mozilla/Firefox and other browsers based on that as well as Opera.

Important note - If you have upgraded to Windows 10 and have Microsoft's new Edge browser, plug-in customization options on it are still very limited and you can only set Flash to on or off. For that reason we  recommend using another browser if you are having issues with lag and crashing.

Now we will go step by step on how to require permission for the plugin to run in the following order Chrome and Chrome based browsers first, followed by Firefox and Mozilla based browsers then Opera.

To quickly find your browser of choice hold down the ctrl key on your keyboard and type the letter F.

A box will then appear on the upper right in Chrome

The lower left in Firefox

or the upper left in Opera.

Type the name of the browser that you are looking for and hit enter in Opera or use the arrows next to the box in Chrome or FireFox to go to that section of the post.

Chrome and Chrome Based Browsers

(Includes Comodo Dragon, SRWare Iron, Superbird etc)

Click on the three dots in the upper right, then click on settings.

Scroll well down the page and click on "Show advanced settings'

Under "Privacy" click on "Content Settings"

Scroll down the page to "Plug-ins" and tick "detect and run important flash content"

Now when you load your farm, the game will load, but heavier side items like autoplay videos will not.

Firefox and other Mozilla Based Browsers

(Includes Waterfox, Pale Moon, CyberFox, Comodo Ice Dragon etc)

Click on the 3 dots in the upper right, then click on "add ons"

Click on "plug-ins" on the left and then use the down arrow next to "shockwave flash" to choose "Ask to Activate"

Now Flash will not run automatically on any site, when you go to load Farmville you will get a black screen. Right click anywhere on it and click "Activate this plug-in" Your farm will then load normally. You will need to do this every time you load your farm.

Opera and Opera Beta

Click on the O in the upper left and make sure "Opera Turbo" is checked, if it is not, click on it to check it.

Now Flash will not load automatically on any site. When you want to play Farmville, you will get a gray screen with an arrow. Simply click the arrow and your farm will load normally, you will need to do this each time you load your farm.

That's all for now, Stay tuned to The Dirt Farmer for all the latest Farmville news and information.

  1. Can you explain why FarmVille is the only game on Facebook that has this problem with Flash player crashing?
