Today, the newsfeed is awash with fearful posts and comments about login issues, lost friends, security messages and worries about hackers. Most pertain to Facebook, a few to GMail. Your Dirt Farmer team has investigated the reports and we have more information for you. Read below for details and please do share....

Firstly regarding Facebook. DownDetector.com is reporting login/blackout  issues across the world. You can view current status here and the outage map here.

Numerous users are reporting missing friends, being logged out or locked out of their accounts and unable to login and security messages indicating that someone has been trying to log into their accounts.

According to numerous reliable tech news site, including the Next Web, Facebook has issued a press release indicating that this is simply a technical error. You do not have to worry.

"“Earlier today an error in one of our systems designed to help prevent suspicious account access sent a small set of people to our account recovery flow unnecessarily. We have fixed the issue and are in the process of clearing the  affected accounts from this recovery flow. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Similar reports are coming in regarding GMAIL. Google as well has reported that they are investigating but it is just a technical issue.
