The news is awash with warnings of yet another serious vulnerability in Adobe Flash (and Pepper Flash) that will not be patched until next week. Some sites are advocating uninstalling flash. What's a farmer to do to stay safe and feed our farming addiction? Your Dirt Farmer team has a recommendation for you on how to stay as safe as possible and still play the game. Check out the details below and please do share with friends if you find our post helpful.
All versions of Flash are vulnerable to this bug and it is true that the only way to be 100% safe is to remove Flash from your system. However, the exploit of this vulnerability so far has been generally targeted to government agencies with various forms of espionage. It is possible that hackers may exploit it by infecting other sites. What we recommend is to set your browser to only allow flash to run when you approve it - then you have the option to only allow flash to load when you are playing Farmville or want to check out an image here on farmvilledirt.com. To read more from Adobe click here.
Now we will go through how to go about that - we will address how to make plug ins ask for your approval on Chrome and Chrome based browsers, Mozilla/Firefox and other browsers based on that as well as Opera.
Important note - If you have upgraded to Windows 10 and have Microsoft's new Edge browser, plug-in customization options on it are still very limited and you can only set Flash to on or off. For that reason we do not recommend using Edge until this vulnerability is fixed.
Now we will go step by step on how to require permission for the plugin to run in the following order Chrome and Chrome based browsers first, followed by Firefox and Mozilla based browsers then Opera.
To quickly find your browser of choice hold down the ctrl key on your keyboard and type the letter F.
A box will then appear on the upper right in Chrome
The lower left in Firefox
or the upper left in Opera.
Type the name of the browser that you are looking for and hit enter in Opera or use the arrows next to the box in Chrome or FireFox to go to that section of the post.

Now flash will not load automatically on any site. When you want to play Farmville you will see a gray window with a puzzle piece. Simply right click on the window and click on
"Run this plugin" Your farm will then load normally. You will need to do this each time you load the game.
