Have you ever opened your crafting cottage or craft shop, selected a recipe and scratched your head because it showed a whole bunch of bushels for it that you didn’t remember having? Gone to buy the last few from your friends and discovered that you had none at all? Thought that was a particularly annoying bug and wondered why it was never fixed? Thanks to Dirt Farmer Jason’s awesome detective work and Shailesh and team at Zynga, we can now confirm that this is NOT a bug, it’s actually a strange but useful feature. This is an actual credit if you grow your own remaining bushels instead of buying from friends (Some members of our ASK the DF group do report receiving the credit either way, see below). This can result in a huge savings in both plot and market stall space. Read below for full details and please do share with friends if you find our post helpful.
UPDATE: SOME MEMBERS OF OUR ASK THE DIRT FARMER GROUP ARE REPORTING THAT IF THEY HAVE THE CREDIT, BUY THE DIFFERENCE IN BUSHELS FROM THEIR FRIENDS AND THEN RE-OPEN THE BUILDING ,THEY DO GET THE CREDIT AND CAN MAKE THE ITEM. AS ZYNGA REFERRED TO THE CREDIT ONLY BEING GRANTED WHEN BUSHELS ARE SELF-GROWN, WE ARE NOT CERTAIN IF THIS WILL WORK FOR EVERYONE BUT IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH A TRY.
First what you see in the recipe screens.
and what you see when you go to buy the remaining bushels.
We thought this was a bug too so Dirt Farmer Jason emailed Zynga to ask why the phantom bushels displayed
& attached screenshots to show that they vanished in the buy screen as mysteriously as they had appeared.
The response we got indicated that these were a credit for players to make crafting easier.
That didn’t make sense to us so we reminded them that they disappeared in the screen to purchase from friends.
The final clarification was that the credit is only given when players GROW our bushels, not when we BUY them.
So we tested the theory – as you can see the first two screens indicate that we have 72 of 90 Bushels to make the Toy Soldier Dog, with 6 more needed of each type to make the craft.
Clicking on “Get Bushels” shows Zero of 90.
We then used instagrow to get exactly the remaining 6 bushels of each type.
Opening the Craft Shop now shows 90 of 90
The make it screen is no longer greyed out when we click
Clicking on “make it” makes the craft – and yes it sticks after refresh and no it does not take farm cash.
While this is a rather strange “smart” feature in that it only works with growing bushels and not buying from friends it’s actually pretty great – especially for craft shop specials, having to grow and store only 18 bushels instead of 90 is a huge savings on market stall space and plot space. Is your CRAFTSHOP SCARY SLOW TO MAKE OR COLLECT RECIPES? This happens because the game is trying to load all available bushels and recipes on the page or tab. If you SEARCH the recipe you are going to make, so ONLY IT SHOWS, then you can shave off a considerable percentage of your wait time. If you are just collecting, type dots or spaces in so nothing shows, to make it even faster. Please share to let your friends know.
That’s all for now, stay tuned to the Dirt Farmer for all the latest Farmville news and information.
