The Dirt Farmer gets a lot of FarmVille questions and more than a few Facebook questions. Our new FACEBOOK ANSWERS series will attempt to answer some of the mysteries of Facebook.
THIS EPISODE: FACEBOOK JAIL
WHAT IT IS: Facebook Jail is a term created by Facebook Users. Commonly used to describe a Facebook Suspension triggered by sending too many new FRIENDS REQUESTS. You would think a Social Network such as Facebook would encourage as many people networking as possible…they don’t. It’s a security precaution meant to prevent SCAMMERS from sending out thousands of Friend Requests from fake accounts. Which is a good thing. This prevents your Friends List from being bombarded by fake accounts. The downside…If you send too many Friends Requests then your account may be suspended from sending Friends Requests for a few days.
HOW THE SUSPENSION IS TRIGGERED: There isn’t a REAL HUMAN at Facebook. It’s a totally automated system that’s triggered as you continue to send out multiple Friends Requests. No one knows the exact number of Friends Requests it takes to get suspended…or how many days in a row you’d have to keep sending multiple requests. There are some guidelines we’ve noticed.
HOW YOU CAN PREVENT FACEBOOK JAIL: First…if you get thrown in Facebook Jail, it’s not the end of the world. It just means that you cannot send Friends Requests for a day or two. It won’t get your account deleted by Facebook. Just slow down and send a few requests per day. We’ve seen accounts that send 50 or less Friends Requests never get thrown in jail. Although I recommend 25 Friends request per day until you build your account to where you want it.
ANOTHER WAYS INTO FACEBOOK JAIL: Besides sending too many Friends Requests there are a few other ways to get thrown in the SOCILA MEDIA POKEY.
…Getting Friend Requests rejected can cause you to get suspended from sending Friend Requests. Remember this before you reject someone’s Friend Request. Instead, accept the Friend Request and then unfriend them if don’t want to remain friends.
…Finally, one you may not believe unless it actually happens to you. “Liking” too many posts can actually get you suspended from liking posts for several days. Posting too much can even get you suspended from posting for a few days. Again, don’t worry…it’s happened to nearly all of us at one time or another. Just slow down and everything will be fine.
It may seem very un-social…for a social network to suspend you for being “social’.
In fact…these irritating regulations prevent SCAMMERS from overrunning all of Facebook.
